How can you use antibiotics rationally in an emergency situation?

Veterinary use of antimicrobial agents has come under close scrutiny as the global healthcare problem of multi-drug resistant bacterial infections has become one of the most important issues for healthcare providers. Although many think this is mostly due to the use of antimicrobials by the food animal industry, it is clear that regulations and restrictions will be applied to all vets and so the implications for small animal practice are significant.

In November’s vet Emergency and Critical Care Club webinar, RCVS Specialist Dan Chan will discuss the problem of multi-drug resistance bacterial infections, particularly as they relate to emergency and critical care situations and how we think this problem is being propagated, together with what we should be doing to minimise our contribution to the problem. He will also consider what constitutes appropriate and rational antimicrobial use in emergency and critical care situations in practice.

Join Emergency and Critical Care Club to watch the webinar ‘Rational Antibiotic Use in Emergency and Critical Care Situations’.
