How would you treat a joint dysfunction occurring at the distal radio-ulnar joint (DRUJ)?

What type of exercises would you consider?

What type of equipment could you use for home rehabilitation?

Answer:

The DRUJ is a concave type joint where the radius moves over a fixed ulna. Joint dysfunction should be cleared with appropriate manual therapy techniques that restore normal mechanics (range of movement and end feel). Other forms of modalities for surrounding soft tissue structures should also be considered.

The DRUJ is responsible for pronation/supination acting at the forearm. Exercises should therefore be aimed at this type of movement.

A hammer (tool) easily is accessible home rehabilitation equipment.
