I am just getting started with orthopaedic surgery and, like many of my colleagues, feel more comfortable with basic soft tissue procedures. I want to build a solid skill base and get comfortable with tissue handling and fixation methods.

Level: Intermediate
This group of clinicians ranges from those who have completed a basic or introductory course, to those who have been performing some orthopaedic procedures and would like to refine their skills and get better at techniques they struggle with.
The Hands-On Practical Courses For You Are Practical Fracture Fixation, Joint Surgery and Introduction To Arthroscopy
These 2 day practical courses are excellent to follow on from the Introduction to Orthopaedics Course and equally suitable as a stand-alone course for vets with basic or intermediate orthopaedic experience.

This is an updated version of a practical course we have run many times and we are delighted it is being led by one of our most popular tutors, Toby Gemmill from Willows Referral Service in Solihull.
The course will consist of a combination of lectures, case discussions and wet labs. Practical exercises will include:
Arthrocentesis
Femoral head and neck ostectomy
Management of hip luxation
Extra-capsular stabilisation for cranial cruciate ligament deficiency
Treatment of medial patellar luxation
Shoulder arthrotomy for OCD
The course will be focused on conditions and practical techniques that can be applied to cases seen commonly in practice, to allow participants to build their confidence and genuinely improve clinical outcomes in their cases.

These courses are for experienced orthopaedic surgeons who are comfortable working with power tools and using a broad range of fixation techniques.
