Course outline
How we obtain and interpret our diagnostic imaging can make or break a case. Have you ever wished you could just MRI everything?! Well, if you don’t have an MRI scanner on your doorstep, then don’t despair. This session will help you to make the best use of the resources that you do have at your disposal, and it will show you how to take a rational approach to requesting more advanced imaging techniques. We will look at thoracic and abdominal imaging with special emphasis on the diagnosis, management and prognosis of tumours found in the abdominal and thoracic cavities. This module will also cover CNS tumours, the principles of MRI and introduce you to radiation therapy; a veterinary treatment modality which is gaining momentum and is about to become widely available in the UK.
Specific areas to be covered include:
• Diagnostic imaging for cancer patients
• Making the most of your practice facilities
• What and when to refer for imaging
• Management of key thoracic and abdominal cancers
• MRI and CNS tumours
• Radiation therapy
