Course outline
Rabbits are popular pets and their owners increasingly expect a very high level of care at their first opinion practice. This module will provide you with the confidence and skills to deal with rabbits and their owners effectively. We will cover current thinking in husbandry and nutrition, preventive care and common medical and surgical presentations.
Specific areas to be covered include:
• Essential biology, nutrition and husbandry of rabbits
• In-patient care
• Practical examination and diagnostic protocols
• Common medical and presentations and treatment options
• Anaesthesia; how to decrease mortality and morbidity
• Surgical procedures for first opinion practice
• Interactive case discussions
