Course outline
This module will include an introduction to the course and to Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), together with guidance on how to get the most from the course and apply what you have learned in your practice.
Acupuncture is being increasingly used in animals- but does it actually work? How can you get started in offering acupuncture therapy in your practice? This module will give you the answers.
Specific areas to be covered include:
• History of acupuncture; Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
• Meridians/Channels
• Acupoints and where to find them – hands on practical classes identifying points.
o You will identify acupoints on real patients and yourselves during this session
o How does acupuncture complement standard veterinary therapies?
• Case studies to help you apply theory to your own patients
You will also be given a procedure to use in practice for your patients with hip dysplasia, including needles to take away with you, together with sources of further support and learning.
