Course outline
This module will cover major aspects of feline cardiorespiratory disease with a particular emphasis on what you need to know working in a first opinion practice. The tutors are highly experienced and practically orientated clinicians who have worked within first opinion, university and private referral environments. The course will be problem orientated with an emphasis on how to approach the common clinical presentations of cardiorespiratory disease in cats.
During the day you will have an opportunity to discuss a number of interactive cases. These are designed to build confidence in your diagnosis and management of chronic and acute cardiorespiratory patients that you are likely to see in your practice daily. Current advice on the therapeutic approach to cases both when a diagnosis has been established and in cases where treatment is necessary before a diagnosis has been made will be included. We will also provide essential tips on managing problem cases and problem cats!
Specific areas to be covered include:
• Approach to the coughing cat
• Emergency management of the dyspnoeic cat
• Approach to the dyspnoeic cat
• Dealing with feline arrhythmias
• How to manage the cat with heart failure
• Nasal disease in cats – diagnostic approach and therapeutic options
