Course outline
During this module we will cover common liver and pancreatic conditions in cats, using a case-based approach. With some basic understanding about the disease and specific issues that you need to consider in managing these disorders, they can be rewarding to treat. The module will cover practical problems that you may encounter with the diagnosis and management of liver and pancreaticconditions and practical advice on managing them.
Specific conditions that we will discuss include pancreatitis, inflammatory liver disease, hepatic lipidosis, portosystemic shunts
and disorders of the biliary tract. We will also address management of anorexic cats, a common presenting sign with many of these disorders as well as most other diseases encountered in feline medicine! You will receive practical advice on managing inappetant cats including how to place and manage feeding tubes using methods of enteral assisted feeding.
Specific areas to be covered include:
• Inflammatory liver diseases

• Approach to the jaundiced cat
• How to manage the inappetant cat
• Enteral assisted feeding methods
