Course outline
Are you unsure where to start with small animal orthopaedics? Perhaps you would like to develop your confidence in decision making and your surgical skills in the kinds of procedures that you are likely to face on a regular basis in practice.
This highly practical two day course is specifically designed for you. Seminars and interactive sessions are combined with hands-on surgery sessions during which you are guided by experienced but approachable tutors. Take your newly developed confidence and skills back to your practice and apply them in fracture patients, those with cranial cruciate ligament rupture and other conditions that can be treated effectively in first opinion practice.
Specific areas to be covered include:
• Essential biomechanics and fracture healing
• Intramedullary pinning
• Introduction to use of external fixators, frame construction and application
• Orthopaedic instrumentation and how to use it
• Using cerclage and tension band wires in practice
• Surgical approach to the hip; femoral head and neck excision
• Surgical approach to the stifle; meniscal examination
• Lateral fabellotibial suture for CCL failure
• Surgical approaches to long bones
Course fee
£680.00 + VAT (£799.00)
Includes two days tuition, course notes, refreshments and lunches.
