Course outline
Patients requiring surgical procedures of the head and neck are commonly encountered in small animal practice. During this course you will learn the theory essential for making decisions as to which procedure is appropriate for each of your patients and you will practise the surgical techniques under the guidance of highly experienced and approachable tutors. This course includes extensive ‘hands-on’ practical wetlab sessions.
Specific areas to be covered include:
• How to manage nasal diseases
• Treatment options for airway disease
• Diaphragmatic hernia
• Thyroid conditions
• Ear disease
• Lateral wall resection
• Total ear canal ablation/lateral bulla osteotomy
• Chest drain placement and use
• Tracheostomy
• Tonsillectomy
