Course outline
There has been an enormous increase in the interest of small animal practitioners in feline medicine in recent years, driven partly by rapid development in the field, but also increased numbers of cats presented to practitioners and greater expectations of their owners. This course will cover selected areas of feline medicine in which there have been important developments in recent years, concentrating on more common problems. The course will be based on a mixture of lectures and case studies. Delegate participation will be encouraged. The course will be ideal for candidates preparing for the small animal medicine certificate.
Specific areas to be covered include:
• Infectious diseases, especially:
o New tests
o Emerging diseases
o Vaccination issues
• Endocrine diseases:
o Hyperthyroidism
o Diabetes mellitus
• Gastrointestinal disorders
