Course outline
This one day practical ultrasound course is designed for vets in practice who have a high level of ultrasound experience. To attend this course, you should be familiar with the basic use of an ultrasound machine, and you should be confident in your ability to locate and examine the liver, spleen, kidneys, bladder, prostate, adrenal glands, pancreas, gastrointestinal tract and abdominal lymph nodes. You will be familiar with advanced use of ultrasound machines.
Practical Abdominal Ultrasound Level 3 will help you to develop your skills and answer particular questions and challenges that you may have with abdominal ultrasound scanning. A high proportion of practical sessions under the guidance of expert tutors will enable you to tackle areas that you find particularly challenging.
Specific areas to be covered include:
• The benefits and risks of ultrasound-guided biopsy
• Practical intra-abdominal vascular anatomy
• Portosystemic shunts: ultrasound vs. portovenography
• Other areas requested by delegates
