Course Outline
Managing wounds as effectively as possible is a key area of small animal practice. Accurate assessment and appropriate treatment can make the difference between rapid healing and a return to normal appearance and an ongoing non-healing wound that requires further intervention. In this module you will learn to manage open wounds and tumours more effectively, make decisions as to the best options for each patient in case-based sessions and then practise surgical techniques in the extensive wetlab practical sessions.
Specific areas to be covered include:
• Wound healing
• Advancement flaps
• Transposition flaps
• Free skin grafts
• Biopsy techniques
• Use of drains
