Diabetes mellitus is a common endocrinopathy in cats and dogs. The diagnosis is usually straightforward but patient management can be challenging. Using a case-based format, we will explore the diagnosis and management of diabetes mellitus. Recent advances in the management and monitoring diabetes mellitus will be presented. Successful management of diabetes requires a team approach. As a nurse, you are a vital member of the management and monitoring team; you will work with owners of diabetic pets on a daily basis and you’ll often be the first port of call for owners when they have concerns. Communication and education are the keys to successful management. This, interactive, case-based, one-day CPD course will provide you with the understanding that you need to assist with the care of this fascinating illness and also to derive greater job satisfaction.
