Course outline
Urogenital and perineal problems are commonly encountered in small animal patients. Some of these conditions can be very challenging to manage effectively in practice. This course will help
you to optimise your approach to your urogenital patients, from making the correct diagnosis to deciding on the best treatment for each animal. You will then practise the surgical procedures in wetlab classes under the guidance of the highly experienced course tutors, before you carry out these techniques in your practice.
Specific areas to be covered include:
• Urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence - diagnosis and management
• Urethrostomy (dog and cat)
• Cystotomy and tube cystostomy
• Prostatic surgery
• Surgery for perineal hernia
• Anal furunculosis
• Anal sac resection
