Course outline
Exotic patients are often challenging to deal with in practice. Ultrasonography can be a very rewarding tool in the management of these cases; in fact, you may well miss some diagnoses if you rely only on blood work and radiography. During this course we will go through the ultrasound imaging techniques that you can use in exotic pet species in detail. Common findings in health and disease in mammals, birds and reptiles will be demonstrated using still and video images. We will practise these techniques during practical ultrasonography sessions with real patients, so that you can see how the theory will apply to your patients.
Specific areas to be covered include:
• Exotic pet reptile ultrasonographic anatomy in health and disease
• Exotic pet bird ultrasonography anatomy in health and disease
• Exotic pet mammal ultrasonography anatomy in health and disease
• Practical sessions with hands-on scanning
